Biography

John is known as a successful litigator who has tried many cases before juries and judges throughout this State and in other venues across the country.  He has also had sucess in resolving matters without the necessity of a trial through alternative dispute resolution and negotiation.

John has worked in most areas of the insurance industry and has been previously employed by the Mississippi Department of Insurance, Mississippi Secretary of State, and Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO). He also has experience in the banking field and has been a business and commercial property owner for most of his adult life.

John practices law in Ridgeland, Mississippi, primarily in the areas of commercial real estate, business bankruptcy, and mergers and acquisitions. He received his undergraduate degree from Mercer University, his JD and MBA from Mississippi College, and his LLM in Taxation, with honors, from the University of Alabama.

John lives in Madison with his wife, Penny, and children, Julia (6) and Luke (2). They attend St. Matthews United Methodist Church, where John has served the church in several roles, including as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

John currently serves on the Board of Governors for Shriners’ Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana and as an Advisory Board Member for Stop Hunger Now in Jackson, Mississippi. His past volunteer work has included many years serving as a mentor in Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
